Question for Super Mario 64 DS

I currently have 27 power stars. I stand on the circle in the first room in order to be warped to the other level so that I can hit the ? Switch, but it does not take me. Do I have too many stars? What do I need to do in order to be warped into the level?

Ok this caught me out to press x to zoom in and look straight at the light

Ok if there is a shining light look up and you will be there.
