How do you do the quest blast down the wall in whomps fortress?

Need help now I only have 69 stars thats not much

Go to the cannon near the Bob-omb Buddy, not the one at the beginning if you select red coins. Aim at the corner of the wall with the Piranha Plant on top of it. As soon as you get up off the floor from sliding downward, the star will appear. Go in the cannon again and shoot yourself toward the star. Ta-da!
