You have to win all 7 special stages by getting to the end of all 7 stages with 50 rings left.Then you have to collect the correct amount of orbs(it will say how many)and then you have a emarald.
For the Wii version you need to get all 180 red rings, then complete all sonic simulator acts. After that, go to the options and a super sonic option will be unlocked. If you turn it on, collecting 50 rings in a stage lets you go super. However, with the option turned on you cannot use wisps, which means that some stages will be altered in order for you to progress through without the need of it. Also, super sonic cannot double jump and is slightly hard to control. However you also get invincibility, infinite boost, and are faster.
For the DS version you need to complete all 7 special stages successfully. You cannot use super form in stages, but there is a secret, optional boss that requires the emeralds. Hope this helped!
