Manaphy Egg Transfer

I just finished the manaphy egg rescue mission and now I'm attempting to transfer it to my Pokemon diamond version. But...for some reason the two ds don't connect to each other and disconnect, but my diamond is able to get the recruitment message from ranger. Do I need WiFi to get my egg or something else?

Please help anyone?
