Train your team. Not just one, but all six. Your team should be balanced (for example, don't use three flying types). There is no secret, no code, no hidden trick. It is the same thing you've done all game, the same thing you will do, and the same thing everyone has to do.

When I fought lance the first time, I had some trouble the first time. I lost, but barely to his Dragonite(lv50). I realized that I didn't strategically use my moves or Pokemon correctly.I used my Dragonair on his Dragonite. That will not get you anywhere unless you really out-level him. So I sat and planned out every single move I would use, when and how I should use it. I levelled every Pokemon I had to level 50, just so we have a fair battle, and fought. Here is a list of the Pokemon I used:
Typhlosion(57): Flamethrower, Eruption, Thunderpunch, Rock Slide
Dragonite(60): Dragon Rush, Outrage, Ice Beam, Thunderpunch
Steelix(57): Stone Edge, Iron Tail, Ice Fang, Dragonbreath
Ampharos(54): Thunder, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Focus Blast, Iron Tail
Sudowoodo(56): WoodHammer, Hammer Arm, Stealth Rock, Double Edge
Mamoswine(57): Blizzard, Ice Shard, Rock Slide, Earthquake
Steelix and Dragonite were actually really useful, though out of all 6, they did have the most weaknesses. Steelix KO'd Gyarados and 1 Dragonite, While my Dragonite swept 2 Dragonites, Charizard and Aerodactyl. It was a lucky sweep because 2 were critical hits and I was only using Dragon Rush which has a 75% chance of hitting. He never missed using Dragon Rush and made it look great when he finished off Lance's strongest Dragonite(50). Remember, his Dragonite KO'd my Dragonair the first time so I got the last laugh this time.
Anyways, I recommend using Dragonite definitely because he is a great physical sweeper. And trust me, keep Dragon Rush because it will lead to a 1hitKO. By the way, the second time I battled Lance, I kept Dragonite, Steelix, and Typhlosion. I even caught my own Charizard and Blaziken. I also thought using my special Pikachu would be useful so I used him to.
2nd Round:
Dragonite(100): Dragon Rush, Draco Meteor, Fire Punch, Thunder
Typhlosion(95): Fire Blast, Eruption, Dig, Rock Slide
Charizard(100): Flamethrower, Steel Wing, Counter, Dragon Pulse
Steelix(96): Stone Edge, Iron Tail, Giga Impact, Double Edge
Pikachu(98): Thunderbolt, Volt Tackle, Iron Tail, Quick Attack
Blaziken(97): Sky Uppercut, Blast Burn, Close Combat, Brave Bird
Yeah I over-leveled up my Pokemon and swept him without losing one of my pokemon. Anyway I hope I was of help, and all of these movesets and Pokemon can are available in the game without the requirement of trade, cheat or event. Trust me, I can't even get on WiFi because my ds sucks like that. So it was definitely hard to do all of the following, but I did it without cheats or trade or event, so you can do it too. Against his Gyrados i used stockpile 3 times, as his Gyrados can barely do any damage to Lanturn. Then Thunder as Gyrados has a 4 times weakness. Blizzard the three Dragonairs (4x weakness) 1 hit KO each. Surf the charizard and Aerodactyl
