Couldn't as in the game wouldn't let you or couldn't as in you felt attatched?
If the game wouldn't let you then you just go to the screen that has your file on it and instead of choosing that like you normally do select "New Game " then save on the new file and it will save over your old one.

Before you can Start a New Game, you must delete the Existing Game. If you hold the Up Button, Select Button, and B Button at the same time on the Game's Menu, it will delete the Existing Game. After you do this, you can start a New Game and Save your Data.
