It CAN be corrupted, but thats not always the case. I've had this problem one or 2 times and it was because the game had some dust on it. Make sure your game and/or ds doesnt have dust on/in it by blowing into the ds game slot and blowing the game itself. If that doesnt work then yes delete the save by pressing up, select, and b on the title screen showing the version mascot.

I had that problem, I sent it to Nintendo, and they will give the cartridge a full repair. Sorry about your save data, but this is the only way to reset with that error message.

Hi, I'm posting this specifically for others who stumble across this issue (as I did) and still lack any solid information on to how to remedy it. If the cartridge appears un-damaged, recognizes the game but will not even load to the title screen without displaying this error message, it's a connection issue and CAN possibly be fixed WITHOUT erasure of any data.

I've just had this occur with a pre-owned copy of Pokemon White 2- I would turn on the DS, click on the icon saying the game's name.. But be faced with a blue screen and this message (without so much as the nintendo logo or even the opening credits) and it happened on multiple DS systems with only this cartridge, so I looked up the issue to see if i'd definitely have to take it back (since I obviously didn't care about the existing save data).

The most concrete evidence that anyone had ever managed to remedy it, was "I licked it and it worked".

I did not lick my cartridge but first tried cleaning it thoroughly and blowing into both the slot on the DS and the cartridge many times.. However this (on it's own) did not make any difference. It wasn't until I neglected to DRY the gold parts of the cartridge (therefore creating a similar condition to licking) that it actually WORKED.

My guess, because of this, is it's a connection issue with the gold metal being scratched.. So a tiny amount of moisture will actually seal the minuscule, hairline gap that is causing the problem.
(note; I would not advise sticking too much liquid into an electrical device, do not soak it)

It was a rush to the title screen on my first attempt- twice it cut back to the message "save data could not be accessed" halfway through the opening credits or when trying to access the save data/ start a new game, but each time it did this, I would simply remove the cartridge, switch off the device and apply another small amount of water to the gold part, and it has always made the game work again for me (although.. For varying amounts of time)

I have even gotten the previous save file to load on my third attempt now and have played without hitch for more than half an hour, testing the save feature at random intervals (since I've seen others mention it happens specifically while saving) and even closing the DS down and re-opening it... But it seems the issue has been fixed for me now, to a level at which the game can actually be played.

Hopefully this new information helps somebody! Especially those who have a lot to lose

How many times did you have to lick it before it can work again? I tried doing the same thing you did, and mine did not seem to work.
