Question for Pokemon Black

So, my little brother wanted to trade over his Pokemon from SoulSilver to Black. I let him use my DS, and along with his DS he tried to do it. When he got into the Wireless Union Room in both games, no one appeared on the screen.

So my question is: Can you trade your Pokemon from previous games to Black/White through the Wireless Union Room, or must you use WiFi or the PokeTransfer?

To the best of my knowledge, which keep in mind is still very limited, there is no way to trade Pokemon over from previous game versions. I mean that's the whole reason there's a relocator in the game - Just to be able to trade over a FEW events from previous games. Don't think it allows much more than Celebi and the three event dogs.

You can't trade Pokemon from the earlier Pokemon games over to your Pokemon Black or White games. Instead you have to use the PokeTransfer which is kinda like Palpark. Your only able to use this feature after you've beaten the game.(This includes getting the National Dex.) Go to Route 15 and head into a odd looking a building. When you enter a scientist will talk to you and explain about stuff. Now getting the Pokemon over is like when you use the Relocator. You need two DS and when you go to connect your Pokemon Black or White game will send out a download play. Now with the DS that has the SoulSilver game in it you just click DS download play on the DS menu. This should allow you to chose up to 6 Pokemon at a time to send over. Once you send Pokemon over you can't send them back. No held items will be sent over and any Pokemon with HM moves cannot be sent to Pokemon Black or White. If you send any event Pokemon over this way though they won't activate their events. You have to send them over by way of the Relocator.

The only way to obtain older generation Pokemon from the previous Nintendo DS games is by using the new "Poke Transfer" feature that Nintendo has developed on Pokemon Black and White version.

Poke Transfer is a similar feature to Pal Park in the previous DS games such as Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. It is located in Route 15 but you only can access this feature after beating the main story line. As you know, you will need two DS's to complete this task then you go into the building and it should have a similar look to what it was in D/P and HG and SS.

Talk to the guy and then your DS will give you instructions on how to complete this task with transferring your Pokemon over to Pokemon Black and White version. Once that is completed you will then have to do a mini game to complete the transfer and the mini game will look like this,

You have to tap the Pokemon and to complete the transfer to your Pokemon Black and White Version. If you missed out on transferring a Pokemon it will be sent back to your older generation game.

Here are the restrictions for the Poke Transfer feature, a Pokmon can't know HM moves such as strength, fly, whirlpool, waterfall, rock climb surf, cut and defog. No eggs can transferred as well as a Spiky Eared Pichu from your HeartGold and SoulSilver Version.
