What do you mean? Smartest or most athletic?
For Smartest I'd choose:
A Poodle(once it's unlocked).
For most athletic I'd choose:
A Beagle
Or a Pug.
If you want both smart and athletic I'd choose:
A Miniature Dachshund
A Golden Retriever
A Shiba Inu(once it's unlocked)
A Lab(once it's unlocked)
Or a German Shepard(once it's unlocked).

In my opinion, Siberian Huskies because I have one who has one all the championships. They're smart and fast, just look for the right one.
It's a matter of opinion, personally I like Huskys or Dachs' , but it depends whether you want an obediance trial dog, an agility/disc competition dog, or just a companion.
Dachs' are clever, Huksys are great at disc, and I had a beagle that was amazing at agility.

The best dog (I think)is the siberian huskey not only are they cute but they are exellent at agility, disk, and obediance I got a 9.9 with the 1st & 2nd judge with one! Can anyone beat that ?! A 9.9!
I personley like my siberan husky. (spelling) he got 10.0 twice ina row. This the acual truth becouse just got done withe obedaince trials for expert and master.
The shiba inu and german shephard learn tricks really fast and they get along with most dogs, but out of my eight dogs, my favorite is my shnauzer (sorry if I misspelled that). She's great at obedience, agility, and agility. And if you want to find rare items on walks, get the rarer dogs, like the poodle and shiba inu. My poodle found a promise (diamond) ring once!
The miniature dachsund bcs I have one and it is sooooo cute they are great at the obedience training and also are very calme loving and soooo small compared to my dalmation and beagle and shiba inu and shih tzu!!! I have 5 dogs cause some are in the hotel....😊😊😊😊
