You have to change the time on the ds. But if you do, then you can't do contests or walks for the rest of the day.

There's a trick to do competitions over and over. Set your clock to 23:59 and quickly turn on your nintendo ds with the nintendogs game inserted(before it's 12:00 on your ds). Then wait until 12:01 and you can do all the competitions you can in one day (max 24). Once you're done with contests, save the game and set the clock to 23:59 again, and I'm pretty sure you know what to do after this, don't you? Haha hope this helps and good luck on becoming rich.
And pugggle, it's true that if the intenal ds clock is altered or you use your nintendogs game in another nintendo ds system different from the one you saved in, you can't do competitions for all day long, but to walk your dog, you just have to wait 30 minutes and not all the day.
