I've completed world 8 and got the princess, the credits have rolled. Is this really the end of the game? I remember on the older version for the super Nintendo that there was a secret code to enter when the credits rolled that took you to a star land with further games.

It is the end of the game, but in World 1 a mushroom house pops up. In this mushroom house, you can exchange Star Coins for backgrounds on the Touch Screen. You could also go back through all the worlds and collect the Star Coins and open up the paths. When you complete a world (collect all the Star Coins), a Star Coin will appear on the Touch Screen with, "Complete!", on it. Now, this will appear in every world you complete!

Sorta. It's really the end of the story mode, but you can go back to get all to the star coins, then after you collect them all, then spend them all, you can get another star beside your file. Also, there are the mini games, but they don't do much. Anyway, you could also complete the other two files. That's what I did.
