I really don't know what you mean by the black cannons but you can get to world 4 by beating World-2 boss with mini-mario. He can't hurt him I know but you can ground pound it

The black cannons are warps to skip one level and to get to them you need to find an alternet ending on a level near by them usually they are alternate levels marked A, B, or C....hope it helps yah!

The black cannons warp you 2 another level. You have to find a secret exit to a level. These are not very useful after you have gotten to that world.

To get to world 4 you have to beat the boss at the last castle of world 2 as mini-mario
