If you haven't beaten the game yet I prefer to have a lot of fire spells on ma n use something strong like duel gear or valor gear+ witch you can get by doing 1 or 2 missions in the mission mode. That'll make thing easy for u
If you do beat the game get the zero gear and equip it with 3 ability units and 1 power unit. It'll make it beast in regular mode (with a kingdom keyblade look) and duel wield in mission mode it's hell of strong in normal and has awesome combo for many enemies in mission mode. Only down word effect with it is in mission mode it's week but can add damage with it's combo's. I like it it's one of my fave weps. Hope this helps. Oh and use fire on the tentacles and have many elixirs for refiling you're fire to make the coffin go down so you can attack it without it's 1 to 2 hit kill hand (that is the hardest normal game boss in the game. The hardest boss overall is the sp riku. I hit kill you're dead
I personally liked using the wild gear set until I got the pandora gear+,Nut I can't remember where you get it of the top of my head. The pandora gear abilities give you a lot of boosts when your health is full, such as all attacks stagger. I didn't like using the zero gear simply because it didn't do combos very well.
I personally prefer the Arial and Nimble gear types because they can attack OVER an OVER again from the air and pretty much hit everything, which is how I beat the game. (Awsome ending by the way)
I've been using the Nimble Gear, but I've heard lots of positive feedback on Rage Gear+, which you can synthesize in the Moogle shop. Fire is also a big need, considering you hit the Tentaclaws with it three times (or thereabouts) and they're dead. The big things is making sure you've got a good lock on whatever it is you're targeting, because the LeechGrave is impervious to fire (unfortunately). Using limit breaks when you get up to it is the best bet. I finally beat him using the Rage Gear. Also, sitting in the sunlight might help. I changed positions after dying three times to the sunlight, and that round, miraculously, I beat him.
