Question for Harvest Moon DS

It has been three years (game time) and I still haven't been able to get the fishing rod from Galen, every saturday I go there around noon and all he can say is "sorry we don't have much to offer" or something like that, am I missing something? Please help, thanks!

I got that to for a while, but one day I just got the rod. Make sure that you have nothing in your tool (red) slot. Otherwise, I don't know what to say.

(other people might say it has to be in spring, but I got it in SUMMER)

I didn't have a problem, but I read a little and this is what I found:

In order to obtain a basic fishing rod, you must visit Galen on a clear Saturday between noon and 1.00 p.m. Make certain that you have not equipped any tool in your tool slot. Speak both to Galen and to his wife Nina. You then will experience an event where he will give you your first fishing rod.

You go to his house on saturday between 11 and 1. Make sure you don't have anything in the red blue or green slot in your rucksack or he wont give it to you,i think thats your problem.

Are you doing it in Spring? That's usually the problem.
