Fishing help!

Hi, I got the fishing pole quite a while ago but whenever I use it I never get a bite at all! I don't know whether it is just luck or I am doing something wrong? I use it in the sea and the lake in the town.
Please help me I want to get the fishing team!

I find that fishing is best early in the mornings, ect when you wake up, and if it's raining or winter, I don't know if this is right or not but it does seem to work for me, as by about 8 am I don't catch nemore. Also, you have to wait a little while for the fish to be caught, when you see a ! Above your charecter, click the same button that you have to click to cast the rod (I forgot which one it is...the one closets to the screen if that helps).
