Question for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

I don't understand how the Care for Magical Creatures works. How does the whole thing work?

There is a bar on the screen. You need to fill the bar. You can select different items. Some items lower the bar and some higher the bar depending on the creatures mood. You have to find the right items to fill the bar. Now you have to rub the creature. You will not be able to go on the game again untill the next day when you have to do the same thing. After a few days the creature should be fully loved.
