Just copy the rock pattern on a peise of paper, then record each symbol next to it's rock.then use the key to figure out the puzzle
In order to beat the puzzle, you have to have one time when you luck out and make NO mistakes. And it is luck. A general, though not hard and fast rule, is to go to the opposite diagonal position from the first rock you pick or the opposite diagonal one row down. For example, start on the very farthest from Don Boneyard rock in the lower left corner of the puzzle. Now try either the top (closest to Don) right rock, or the right sided rock in the row second closest to Don. It'd be easier if I could just draw a diagram. Hope this helps. Once you get a perfect run, that side mission wil show up as completed, though you can still go and play the game if you enjoy it. Good luck!
Just in case anyone still needs this - when I went to do the puzzle, I wrote my answers down for the puzzle on a sheet of paper. I don’t know if it was pure luck or how the game is actually programmed to run, but the very next attempt the same pattern appeared and I was able to complete it without mistakes. Might work for you also?
