Get a tight belt. That way, you don't have to worry about food (because you can only bring 3 items). I brought the tight belt,friend bow, Escape orb, and x-ray specs. Here's how I did it:

1) I put the tight belt on and when I couldn't fin the mirage, I used the x- ray specs and followed it.

2) before I went in, I equipped the friend bow.

3) If you are going to die use the Escape orb.
