Don't forget about side quest chapters...
When you finish chapters 6, 12, 17, 20 and 24, you will automatically unlock optional side quest chapters if you have fulfilled certain conditions. To unlock the first of these after chapter 6, the number of total units in your army must be 15 or less including Marth at the time you complete the chapter.
To recruit Navarre to your army...
In Chapter 3, send Caeda to a space adjacent to Navarres and initiate a conversation with him using the special Talk command that appears. Remember, it has to be Caeda. Approaching him with any other character won't do the trick.
Be smart about how you use arenas to maximize their usefulness:
When you enter an arena you can see how much gold you need to wager to ..
In Chapter 1 (Marth Embarks), get as many bows as you can and give them to Gordin. Next, you have to kill every enemy on the map except for the boss. Put Gordin in a space where Gordin can hit the boss but the boss can't hit you. All you have to do is keep Shooting him. Every time a shot hits you will get experience. Repeat this until you have leveled up Gordin. You may need to buy more bows.
First, the Triangle Attack is a move used by Palla, Catria, and Est. Put all of the sisters around the enemy, like Palla on top, Est on the left, and Catria on the right. When you enter battle, there's some dialoge and an attack thats like a critical hit. After you get the VIP card, you can get to the Secret Shops. There's one in Cp.17, north of the throne. One in Cp.21, in the middle of the southeast mountains. One in Cp.23, behind the throne. Finally, there's one in Cp.24, in the middle of the mountains. P.S. Does the shopkeeper seem familiar to you? P.P.S. Is Avatarist a good site to go to and what do I do if I find my Avatar?

Note: This trick works best with Marth and Caeda (after promoting her to Dracoknight). Any unit should be able to pull this off as long as you're willing to devote the time.
Required:
1. Any Chapter with an Arena and Venders
2. An available savepoint
3. At least one unit that can use healing staffs (two if early in the game)
4. Enough money to make at least one Arena wager.
Clear the map, but don't seize the endpoint! Move your units over to the area with the Arena/Venders, then save the game. Enter the arena once or twice (depending on unit strength). Heal your unit with the healer(s) and end the turn. You get experience as well as cash at the end of each battle and your healers gain exp from healing. With the venders right there, you can buy all the staff..
You can find good items online. The poleax and the silver lance are always available and there are a variety of other items that are available on different days. The killer lance and killer ax are available on tuesdays between 10 pm and 6 am. The brave sword is also available once a week.
Kill off every unit (besides Marth, of course) obtaiable up to Chapter 4. Before the first Battle Prep screen, Malledeus will tell Marth about reinforcements; these reinforcements will most likely be promoted units. This is a useful tip for players seeking a challenge. Unfortunately, this removes any possibility of a Marth- only playthrough of Fire Emblem, or which I like to call "Tyrant Runs". This is also useful for inexperienced players. Obviously, promoted and random units can make the game more fun or challenging.
These are "x" chapters, which are extensions of regular chapters. To access, you must have less than 15 characters survivng at a time. You must not recruit (or kill off) characters which you will not use. There are fairly strong new recruits in these chapters, and MOST are worth recruiting. The chapters are:
Chapters 6x, 12x, 17x, 20x, and 24x
For 24x, you can have more than 15 characters, but you must have Tiki, the manakete girl, dead and you cannot have the Falchion sword. An easy way around this is to just have Tiki hold the Falchion, then die. The sword is sent to your caravan, but it counts as being "lost", so you will be able to continue. In 24x, you will be able to recruit a super strong manakete, Nagi, and she replaces Tiki very well, and she will replace Gotoh a..
