How do I get the golden scale?

ANSWERS

To get the Golden Scale, go to Lake Hylia as an Adult and if you've beaten the Water Temple already, simply enter the Fishing Pond by swimming over to it. Otherwise, use the Magic Plant next to the Lakeside Laboratory that you hopefully planted as a Kid with the Magic Beans to get to the Fishing Pond. In order to obtain the Golden Scale, you need to catch a Fish that weighs at least 15 pounds and show it to the Owner guy!!!
P.S. I've heard that Fish bite more often in the morning and/or when it's raining...

Apparently there's a way to get it using the scarecrow song. anybody heard of this?

If you catch at least a 10-pound fish as a child, swim to the middle of the lake. face the owner and hold z and r. keep holding them and swim towards him and talk to him. say "weigh my fish," if you did it correctly, you will get the golden scale instead of a heart piece.

As soon as you hold down the "are" button then your shield is pulled out and you cannot do that cheat as a child.

Well first of all you don't need the scale just get get the iron boots and the zoras tunic and then you can stay underwater forever. By the way a better thing is the skulltala cheat. To do it be a kid get a hell alot of bombs and have the boonarang go to hyrule cascle and by the tree inside the gate do the song of storns the boonarang the skulltala in dead forn and back into the thing and it will still be there. Nn broken

I also got a 20 pounder on 3DS! It's was fairly easy, and I got the scale. Whats the point of getting it if you have iron boots you can dive for 2 minutes other than 8 seconds :/ Plus I have boots and Zora tunic.

After you get the golden scale, you can go back to the fishing pond and find the sinking lure which can then be used to catch the hylian loach. You don't NEED the sinking lure to catch the loach, but it makes it easier

First you don't need to finish the water temple just the adult form then you can go to the pond and fish
For either the size 13 or higher you'll get the golden scale which you can use to touch the bottom of the pool for a heart piece from the old man or you can get the heart piece for the size 10 fish. Then you may go to the scarecrow from your childhood that you sang to and sing it again as and adult then goto the house of the old man to see navi over the house giving you a hint sing the same song and hookshot the scarecrow for the heart piece up top

I've noticed in my game on the nintendo 64 that the 19 pounder is always near the log that has a pointy bit sticky of of the water near the middle of the lake. Thats where I caught mine and it took me heaps of time to get it and it was always right their. I think that at midday (not sure) it moves away from their. It should be where the end of the logs pointy bit. I'm not sure if this refers to anyone else though

Well, if I am correct, you need to go to the Fishing Pond in Lake Hylia and catch a fish the is 15 pounds or above.

By the way, you don't need epona to jump the fences in front of Lake Hylia. To the right of the brick structure, a small ladder can be found.

While attempting this side quest so to speak. You can actually remove the fishermans hat for good without obtaining the sinking lure. If you catch his hat as has already been described and walk to the log sticking out of the water and cast the rod into a deep part of the pool you will sink his hat into the pool. Be careful he will charge you 50 rupees if you do.
