No, you can go back to being a child at any time by putting the master sword back, I believe.

when you complete the forest temple as an adult you can put the master sword back but before you put it back sheik is waiting for you.i wont spoil whar happens.when sheik.............you can put the sword back an be a kid again you can get the lens of truth when you play the song of storms(you learn it at the windmill as an adult then play it to the same guy when you are in link's child storyline)
