There is no purple tunic in the game.
There's the green tunic, which is your default clothing.
There's the red tunic, which you get as an adult in the Goron City by bombing the only rolling goron on the middle floor.
There's the blue tunic, which you get as an adult by using Blue Flame (obtained from the Ice Cavern at Zora's Domain) on the frozen King Zora.

There is no puple tunic in the game, there is only a green tunic, a red tunic and a blue tunic.
The green tunic is the tunic is the one that you start out with.
The red tunic you get by bombing the rolling goron on the middle floor as an adult.
Ten there's the blue tunic, which you get when you are an adult by going to get the blue flame in the Ice Caverns and use it on the Zora King while he has the fed stuff spiralling around him.

There's a glitch where you can get shadow tunic and guantlets but I dont know if it's true. And it's color is black. It's probably not true for years.

It's true, though you have to use cheats in order to get said shadow tunic and gauntlets. If I could send a screenshot of it I would but I don't think I link images in here.blazethecat answered:
I'm sorry, but unless you have a Gameshark or something, you can't. If it makes you feel better though, I like purple too.

Get pj64 and the V1.0 rom and you can choose
From several colors.

There once was a rumor.. Lol. I remember the rumor. I tried to accomplish the impossible to obtain this legendary tunic. Racing against and beating the running man from gerudo valley to the lost woods. Supposedly he would give you his garments he wore underneath what we was wearing at the time if you won, and then you would take it to the old lady in the past in hyrule castle town market and supposedly she would weave it into a tunic for you to wear when you get older. Hahaha best hoax ever.
