Scarecrow's Song

I'm having some trouble with the scarecrow's song, um, how do I make him appear? I know it has something to do when the fairy becomes green and hovers around the spot where he would appear, but I play the song and he doesn't come. What should I do?

Well you have to talk to the scarecrow at the hyrule lake and once you make up a song and he confirms it for you then that when it will be vioable for later in the game

You got to play a song to the scarecrow as a child(makeiteasy)then go back as an adult and play it then he will start coming out.

If you played a song when you were a kid to the scarecrow, then that is your scarecrow's song. Make sure that it is easy to remember though. Then when you're an adult, go back to that same scarecrow, and play the song. He'll tell you about the scarecrow, and it should work!
There are times though (I had this happen to me many times), when Navi turns green at a place, and I played my Scarecrow's Song, and it didn't do anything. It depends on where you're at, and where you're positioned to work.

If you forgot your song then you just go back to being a kid and you play the song agin change it if you like and then return to un adult agin and presto their you go!

Who the hell do you change your song ? I went back as a kid and he telling me that he doesn't know that song no matter what song I play

As a child, talk to the scarecrow on the bottom and then play a song for him that's easy enough for you to remember, but make sure the song fills up the whole thing. Then as an adult, talk to the same scarecrow again and play the same song you played for him as a kid and he'll enable you to use the scarecrow song.

You might be doing it to the wrong scarecrow, it's the lower scarecrow. Boneroo

I need it in the forest temple and I can go back I time

I have that problem too!
I became the adult link without talking to the scarecrow as a kid, but I can't go back now because Sheik is blocking the pedistal of time and refuses to move until I've beaten the forest temple (I CAN'T BEAT THE FOREST TEMPLE WITHOUT THE SCARECROW!!!).

So... I'm caught in a loophole and can't get out.

I might just start the game over... (I have 3DS version by the way)

I've been resisting playing my Nintendo 64 Zelda for more than a year, in anticipation of the 3DS Zelda, but now I can't even play the new Ocarina of time (I never played the Nintendo 64 Zelda)

Yes you do play the scarecrow song in the 3DS version because it is simple in the old version zelda n64.

Simple: Talk to Boneroo to play it and then go to the fishing house when you beat the water temple,and at the fishing house when navi turns green thats where Puireau is at!THERE YOU GO!
One problem: This only works in the 3DS verison if you play the same song to the two scarecrows as a kid first! PS:I MEAN NOT AS AN ADULT LINK!

You don't use the scarecrow to get into the forest temple, you go to the kakariko graveyard, move the grave with flowers on it (there are two, one takes you to the fairys fountain, this is not the one I'm talking about) once you are in the grave, race dampe and he will give you a hookshot, then go back to the forest temple and use it on the tree.

Technically the last poster is correct to get the hookshot to stick to the tree to get into the forest temple. But you would use the scarecrow as a place to stick the hookshot, so you need the hookshot either way.

Btw: don't forget the key before you even get into the temple. I always do!

You don't need the scarecrow, just hook the branch that's over the doorway.

Figured it out!
Go to the lower scarecrow in the past, as a kid.
Pull out your ocarina, he should have something to say.
Play EIGHT notes. BUT: it can't be the same note 8 times . (On the 3DS I used LLLLRRRR so it would be easy to remember.)
There should be a good noise, he has something different to say.
In the future, go to the scarecrow. If you did it right, he will talk when you pull out your ocarina.
Play the 8 notes, see what happens!

Yes, you can beat the Forest Temple without the scarecrow song. What you play when Navi turns green there is the Song of Time.

Okay So I am an adult, forgot to play the scarecrow song as a child and I am trying the temple of time to turn into a child, BUT sheik is in the way, so I can't. I need the scarecrow song to get past the lost woods temple, help?

You don't actually NEED the scarecrow for the Forest Temple. Hookshot the tree branch to get in. You can complete the whole game without him. He does make the game easier at points though. Especially when you play master quest.

Honestly, we've said about a billion times that you don't need the scarecrow song at all, and the answer to main question is...drumroll(yeah, I play drums)...go back in time and play another song!then write it down , and hang it on you're wall(I did)

You're either probably too far away or you need to talk to Bonooru to activate the scarecrow back at Lake Hylia

In one of the outside rooms with the well...
There is a ledge with a chest which you can hookshot to however there is ANOTHER ledge and a door above that ledge that you cannot hookshot to and the fairy keeps turning green and lighting on it above you as if you have to have the scarecrow to get up there but no matter where you stand you can play that scarecrow song till you turn blue and that scarecrow does not show up in that location (despite the fact that you made up a song for him as a child, remembered it and replayed it for them as an adult and they said they'd come)
