Question for Paper Mario

How do you get the Slow Go Badge? Everytime I land on the ledge below it throws me on the treasure chest that used to have the Super Hammer. It would be a lot of help. Even if it doesn't do anything I would still like to have it, because I'm trying to get all the badges and starpieces as well as try all of Tayce T.'s recipes.

The slow go badge is on a ledge above. Once on the ledge, go to the left and enter the shadows. In the roiom, there will be a treasure chest containing the slow go badge.

how do you enter the damn shadows? apparently you're supposed to walk but i haven't seen it despite going forward and not diagonally
