You have to hold the lock button until it says slide to power off. It can only work if you don't remove the cherry blossom tree that blocks you from stretching all the rooms out. When you turn it back on, do NOT go back into it by pressing the button with a square two times, you have to do it by accessing it on the home screen. You can sell it by putting it back into it's original state, just do the opposite of expanding it. However, using this cheat might break the game; when you buy too much stuff from the money you got in the cheat, you can't move it, and when you save it, delete it by pressing the square button two times, then go back to it, it suddenly disappears and you just wasted your money. Plus, it can't be fixed. Don't use this cheat too much!

You have to make sure that when you expand the space that the space you are expanding is blue, if the space is red that means that even if you had the money to expand it you couldn't because that is how big your house is. You can sell this space by either demolishing the room ( using the icon at the bottom, on build mode ) or you can go onto build mode click on the same icon as you used to expand and make it smaller. This will also make you money. You can also build new rooms, windows and doors for free using this cheat.
