Scoring and Power-ups

The scoring system in Temple Run is calculated based on the distance you have traveled and the percentage of total coins that you collect.

Upgrades and Power-ups

Using the coins you have collected, it is possible to purchase upgrades and powerups to improve your character's scoring. You cannot possibly hope to compete with the best Temple Run scores without using plenty of items. You can see a list of these below:

Power-ups:

Mega Coin – Rewards you with the value of the Mega Coin, see below.

Level 1 - Mega Coin worth 50 coins

Level 2 - Mega Coin worth 75 coins

Level 3 - Mega Coin worth 100 coins

Level 4 - Mega Coin worth 125 coins

Level 5 - Mega Coin worth 150 coins

Coin Magnet
– Causes all coins to be attracted towards your character.

Level 1 - Unlock the Coin Magnet

Level 2 - Increases duration

Level 3 - Doubles coin value

Level 4 - Increases duration (500m)

Level 5 - Triples coin value

Invisibility – This allows you to walk through any obstacles and travel over holes.

Level 1 - Unlocks Invisibility

Level 2 - Increases duration

Level 3 - Increases duration

Level 4 - Increases duration

Level 5 - Increases duration

Boost – This increases your speed over a set distance.

Level 1 - Unlock, Boosts for 250m

Level 2 - Boost lasts for 375m

Level 3 - Boost lasts for 500m

Level 4 - Boost lasts for 625m

Level 5 - Boost lasts for 750m

Coin Values – This increaes the value of coins after a set distance.

Level 1 - Unlock, Double coins after 1500m

Level 2 - Double coins after 1000m

Level 3 - Triple coins after 3000m

Level 4 - Triple coins after 2500m

Level 5 - Triple coins after 2000m

Utilities

Resurrection ($500) – This allows you to resurrect your character once, after you have activated it. Note that this utility only lasts for 30 seconds - after that you will die as normal, so ensure you only use it during really tricky sections. Double-tap the screen to activate it and begin the 30 seconds.

Boost ($2,500) – You are able to boost 1,000 meters at the start of the run.

Mega Boost ($10,000) – You are able to boost 2,500 meters at the start of the run.

Best Combination

Arguably the two best power-ups are the Coin Magnet, and the Coin Values power-ups. Together, these can really affect your final score.

I hear that the reason of disabling is so that you can just get the magnet for example, and focus on coins rather than points or vice a versa
