1. Introduction

Before you start, this is NOT a full walkthrough for the entire game. If thats what youre looking for, youre in the wrong place. I dont do those, it takes all the fun out of it. I will, however, try to be as precise as possible with the locations, because I know how frustrating it can be when something being explained and you still cant figure it out. All of the upgrades are guarded by corridors of traps, which include any of the following: spinning blades, spiked floors, death pits, horizontal and vertical spiked logs, wall and floor buzzsaws, crushers and those swords that come out of the walls and knock off most of your health. I wont go into explicit detail about whats in each corridor because I cant remember, but none of them are too hard. After obtaining the upgrade, the traps will be deactivated, making it much easier to get back. Theyre all quite easy to get through, so dont worry too much.

Please note that all life upgrades are located in the past.

2. Life upgrade locations

a) Sacrificial Altar
After killing Shahdee, dont immediately rush for the pile of rubble to climb out. Instead, go up the steps on your left as you look at it. Theres a big stone thing in front of you; pull it out as far as itll go and a door will open behind it. Go through, and youre on your first trap corridor. This is by far the easiest one, but the absence of Eye of the Storm might make it a bit difficult. Just a bit.
WARNING: Make sure you get this one now, because if you put it off until later, you might not be able to go any further than the Southern Passage in the present.

b) Fortress Entrance
After your encounter with the axe-throwing shadow creature, leave the room as before, but this time, instead of going through the door in front of you, climb up onto the ledge above as you did while chasing that raven warrior at the start. Run across the wall and kill a few zombies, then smash the barrels at the bottom of the stairs. Theres a button on the floor; activate Eye of the Storm as soon as you step o it, run up the stairs and roll through the small gap in the wall in front of you. To leave this corridor, simply run up the wall and hit the switch, then roll out through the gap.

c) Central Hall
After using the Serpent Sword to activate the lever, turn it 180 degrees to it faces the path to the Hourglass Chamber. That direction shall henceforth be referred to as north for ease of navigation. Turn to the west and hang off the edge. Wall-jump down the wide gap until you reach the bottom, then go onto the next ledge down and run south along the wall, jumping up until you reach the top. Run west along the wall and wall-jump down onto a narrow ledge. Jump north onto another ledge and make your way around to the large doorway. To get back, turn left out of the corridor and jump across, then wall-jump up the narrow shaft.

d) Garden

After turning the lever to close the door you came in through and open the one to progress, head along the path and into a fenced-off area containing a few trees. Turn left and go into the corner. Part of the fence is missing; climb down and shuffle along to the right. Drop down onto the ledge below and run along the wall to the door. Youll now be at the top of a very high corridor; use the narrow ledges on the walls to climb down, use the pole to swing across to the other side, and climb down some more to reach the corridor with the upgrade. To get out, climb back up the same way you got down.

e) Garden Activation Room

After turning the lever to activate the water flow in the garden tower, climb up the rocky ledges at the back of the room to the doorway. Incredibly easy to find, this one.

f) Mechanical Tower

About halfway through the Mechanical Tower, youll enter a large room and be greeted by a huge armoured Brute who throws those exploding hounds. Run to the left and stand by the cracked wall, and when he throws a hound, get out of the way quickly. The explosion will destroy the wall, and you can go through. If you kill the Brute before getting this upgrade, you can come back when youve got the Scorpion Sword and destroy the wall yourself.

g) Prison

After killing the Brute with the health bar and climbing up to the second floor, youll be attacked by a few Executioners. Slay them all and look around; there are two breakable walls in here. One of them hides a switch, and the other hides the door said switch opens. Destroy both walls, run up the wall to press the button, then use Eye of the Storm to get through the door.

h) Library

Towards the end of the Library area, youll fight a Blade Dancer on an octagonal beam. Kill her and jump across to the adjacent one, but instead of going left to the exit, go right and climb up the narrow ledges on the wall. Shuffle along below the huge stained-glass window, climb up and use the beams inside to reach the corridor with the upgrade. To get out, just climb down the same way and go back along the ledges.

i) Southern Corridor

Youve been here before, while trying to open that door Shahdee went through at the start. While climbing around the room, you may have noticed that one of the gates was damaged and had a crate behind it. Smash the gate with your Scorpion Sword, drag the crate out and position it against the only remaining wall on this ledge. Climb on the crate, run up the wall and wall-jump to the top. Hit the switch on the wall to open the door (you may need Eye of the Storm to get through) and make your way through to the final health upgrade. To get out, just run up the wall and climb over the door.
