Date of Question: May 17 2009 | Question ID: 142212 Somehow I was playing Super Smash Bros. With my brother when, after a moth or two of getting the game, we got challenged by Marth. We beat him and got the character but the strangest thing is that we never got challenged by the other characters that should challenge us before him such as Pichu as listed on the Cheats section of this game page. How did this happen? We only play multiplayer matches on this game so I"m completely connfused. We did however get one or two of the maps prior to this and I had gotten both Jiggilypuff and Dr. Mario in single-player classic mode. I can't remember if Pichu had callenged me priviously and I lost but I don't htink so. If you lose a challenge match can you never get the charcter? Is there someway to play the match again? |

1.This happens if you trigger a special event. For Pichu, you must play 200 matches in VS mode compared to Marth's 400. If Marth challenged you before Pichu, you must've played the original 14 characters at least once in either VS or 1 player mode.
2.If you lose, you can always rechallenge them until you beat the challenger.
3.If you lose, then yes. If you win, then no.

If you lose the challange match you have to meet the requirements again and to answer your question, most of the characters you have to unlock by completing classic mode with a certain character or a special requirement to get to challenge the character after you beat classic mode.

It is easier if you do 1-player mode or the event mach thing or just go to cheat planet they really make them self's clear and junk!!!!!!!!

This can happen if you
A. Play 400 vs. Matches
B. Play vs. Mode with 14 original characters (none of the ones that require unlocking

You don't have to get pichu before marth. If you play vs. Mode with all the first characters you can get him. If you have a gameshark you can get all characters anyway, even though gamecube parts are discontinued you can find some in pawn shops, secondhand stores special order them if they are in demand. Or some like few walmarts and game stop stores especially regularly get overstock.
