Question:
Mewtwo

Date of Question: Mar 5 2008 | Question ID: 111896 So I'v heard from everyone I ask that to get Mewtwo, you have to play Versus Mode for 20 hours straight. Just wondering if there is another way to get him, beside this way and the 700 Versus Match way. (P.S. I figured out the answer to my Pichu question so there's no need to respond)

That's how I got Mewtwo. You don't have to play 20 hours non stop w/o turning off the Gamcube, you just have to play battles, team or single, and you can turn it off and take a break.

No, there is no other way to get Mewtwo - you have to either play a total of 20 hours in Melee vs. Mode or play 700 Melee vs. Matches...

Here's what you can do if you have two controllers.
What you do is start a melee fight without items and give both character 5 lives. Select any character you want for player 1 and 2 and start a stock battle in hyrule temple. Leave your gamecube on and do something else (overnight works well). When it's been 20 hours, come back, take the character you want and beat the other person. You'll then fight Mewtwo. If you win, you'll unlock him as a playable character.

The way I did it:
Get a tough charecter that you think you can defeat mewtwo with. Now pick random people and select a random stage. Pause the game (if you want you can do a cool pose first), turn off the screen, and voila! :D You don't have to stay awake all night. But make sure it's over night and that you start playing again around the same time you turned it off, or it will be a waste.

For different numbers of controllers it's less time to wait, here are the times: 1) 20hrs
2) 10hrs
3) 6hrs 40mins
4) 5hrs ( the way I did it)
Also you can do what Pokemonboy1 said and play 700 vs matches
