There is a cheat but I forget it you can be super sonic on sonic 2 by playing music.
There was 4 types but you had to play them in order for level select then play types of music in level select.
My question is which numbers to play ?

For sonic 2 you play songs 4,1,2,6 and get 50 coins.

Evegal is technically correct, but he is not accurate, the correct way to do this is to first enter the level select code for sonic 2, then enter the code while in the level select screen because there will be a sound test square in the level select room, (kinda obvious what it's for huh? It's to enter codes, I mean come on ain't it obvious? Who puts a sound fx booth in a level select room? It ain't right, it's a room for playing levels, not sound, so the sound tester part of it serves a second purpose in that room.) at least this is what I was taught. And it worked too.
