It's a little while - so go do something else like collecting Chao Drives or Animals from Stages to give to your Chaos, then check again and repeat if necessary...
Play 3 tages with any character and your chao should be ready
I heard somewhere it's about 10 minutes. Can't say for sure.
Also, some classes like Song and Drawing can be taught multiple times. The more you take your Chao to them, th better they get at that skill. Eventually it does tell you the Chao has mastered that skill, though.
Each lesson is 30 minutes long but the time will not pass if you're in the garden you must be in the game mode. Each lesson is available for 60 minutes and what they teach goes in a cycle. You can teach drawing multiple times each time he gets better and wnat they draw depends on their level of the drawing skill.

I will not repeat what others have said, but if you want to past time without going into a stage, go to either chao karate or the chao race, it will count since your not in the garden
No way. I've sat at the classroom door and it definitely runs down in chao world
