Where do you find clay? And what do you do with it?

To get clay take your hammer and hoe to the cave near jamie's house.
Go down one level and start digging around with your hoe.
--you have the hammer so you can go down levels--

Once you get the clay, you put it in your shipping box.
I think it's the next day, the pottery guy shows up
And has a building behind where the river house would be.
