To get the seed maker, just wait until the end of the 1st chapter/year. Then it'll be in your catalog, ready to order. You only befriend Daryl if you want it for free. (Which isn't really worth it anyways because you have to give him fish to befriend him, and you'd be better off selling fish)

To befriend the scientist,i just gave him the gold coins you dig up in the archaeologists dig site.

To befriend Daryl (the scientist), try giving him fish and eggs. They're his favourite, but he especially likes Snelt. Hope I helped!
