I know this is dumb, but....
How do you run? I mean it takes so long to walk, and only way to run is make the screen view the sides of you, it's annoying...how do you run?

This should be in the instruction book. Try looking there. However, once you get to Summer Day 1 of Chapter 1, you'll get a horse anyways. Just press R twice to call it. It's much faster than running.
There is one speed you can travel on by foot: Slowly.
There is one speed you can travel on by horse: Quickly. Wait for a horse and ride it.
