Question for Harvest Moon: A wonderful life

I started the game up again, and I feel like a ditz, but how do I get flowers? Do I plant them or find them somewhere?

As far as I can remember, you can't grow flowers on AWL but there are loads of wild ones in different areas that you can pick, for example, the patch of land outside Kody's trailer.
