you can feed the dog plants you find around town and, veggies, and anything you cook that isn't bad

Just feed him whatever is edible. I think you can give him fish. I ususally just give him a raw herb, like the ones you find around the farm in the morning. If you haven't ever found any, I know of three places right off the top of my head.
1.) Next to the chicken coop
2.) Next to the big patch of soil at the bottom of where your cows (and sheep, goat, and horse) graze
3.) to the right of 2.) (only sometimes)
And another is where the pyrotechnicians (Kasey and Patrick) live. There are two right around there.
