You can't play two player mode at the same time.
But, when you first get your house, you will notice you have four houses to choose from, well other people can live in them... Other playable characters. So your Sister or brother can move to your town too.
Sadly, there isn't a Two-Player mode on Animal Crossing. Bummer, huh?
Well, you can't play together in normal mode but I have been thinking, You can get an NES and games for it, so MAYBE you can play 2-player on your NES. Haven't tried it. But on the Wii and DS versions, you can connect to friends.
