Question for The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Help!

I'm stuck in a really bad spot.

I got past the fortress of winds and talked to the minish in Lake Hylia, who said something about an elder living in Hyrule Town's library. I am already there and I know he lives in the bookshelf by the crazy guy. I talked to another person and he said that any book that has been checked out has not been returned. In the house were the girl with the cat lives is a book on a shelf. I can't bash it down, and there is a minish entrance in her house and the house next door. I doused the fire so I could climb in the fireplace to get to her house to get the book off the shelf, but there are no portals in or out of the other guy's house exept for the one on top of the school, wich I can't get access to and the one in rem's shoe shop, but I can't go through any human sized door.


HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After dousing the fire, over turn the large vase using your cane of pacci. And turn small then climb the fireplace to the roof -wait douse the fire at both houses- and walk across the wooden plank and come down the next fireplace at the ladies house. Go to the ladder and climb it, then walk over to the book and push it off. Then retrace your steps and turn big go back to the house and grab it.
