Unfortunately you cant (far as I know), however you can make the gizoid(aka Emerl)ridiculously strong with all of the skills you get, not being able to turn into super sonic was kind of a drag for me too.

In Sonic Chronicles:The Dark brotherhood, Super Sonic at the end has RIDICULOUSLY high HP and Strength so try that game out to but it does stink that you can't be super sonic in this game, well Emerl did take all the Emeralds...oh well
