Question for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team

Right now on my team I have Charmander and my partner is Totodile. I already know Metal Claw and Ember. My partner knows Rage and Water Gun and Scratch. I need to save Metapod from Team Meanies. How do I beat their Ekans? He always kills mme with Poison Sting and Wrap. I already beat Medicham and Gengar, but I cannot beat Ekans. Please Help Me!

Level up a bit more, then Ember Ekans till it dies.

Level up or use some strategy:
1)Do as a) *or* b)
A)Choose 'Moves' from menu and deselect Growl for Charmander, deselect Leer and Rage for Totodile.
B)Link move at Gulpin shop before you go, link Leer+Rage+Scratch (it must follow the sequence, Leer before Scratch) for Totodile and Scratch *or* Metal Claw+Growl
2)Choose 'Team' from menu while in the last floor, choose Totodile, choose IQ Skills, select Exclusive move user.
3)Kill Gengar first using Graveler rock and/or moves then kill the others

All you can do is get some reviver seeds and oran berrys and level up a bit so you can beat him.

What I do is I get a long ranged attack (like flamethrower) and I keep using it until it runs out or the other Pokemon dies. And if I do run out I just use max elixer. And to cure the poisoning use a pecha berry or get a pecha scarf to stop him from poisoning you at all
