It depends what you like. It is good to have a grass type as a partner, so if you are against a water dungeon you won't be screwed. But it is your choice.

I think the best partner for Charmander,be a water type like Squirtle,Totodile or Mudkip.I think the best would be Mudkip because has an big HP and Attack,if want an Pokemon with big Defense and Sp.Defense choose Squirtle,and if want one with big Attack and big Defense choose Totodile.Enter on this site http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-rs/ and check their attacks and others.You decide I gave you an example.I hope my answer helped

Whenever I played with Charmander as my main, I always found Pikachu to be the best partner. It was well balanced and leveled up pretty fast.

Use lombre because the grass covers your water weakness and the water covers your ground,rock weakness and prevents fire type stalemates

Better use a treeko to balance the team. It will be effective against rock,water and ground. Otherwise ,use a water type like totodile or squirtle. [ hope it helped:]
