You answer couple of questions to match your personality. The best matching Pokemon will be selected and you choose a partner. There are no dis- or advantages on any Pokemon as you get to recruit others later.

It depends on how you answer the little questionaire.
For example,if your a boy and you get a Sassy Nature,your a Treecko.

The usual Pokemon you can start off with are,bulbasar,chicorita(usaly you only get chicorita if ure a chick)and treeko,thewn you can get squirtle,totodile,or mudkip.the unusual are machop,cubone,meowth,eevee(also usaully only if ure a chick).and I'm pretty sure thats it for all the unusual.hope this helps.
