How do you get the sock and when do you get it?

You may want to check the walkthoughs to make sure I've got my facts straight, but I think I've got most of it right. However I am certain Ellen DOESN'T DIE if you procure a sock.

You get it from Ellen early Winter I think it is, within the first couple of days, but you have to be VERY good friends with her. From memory, she loves dumpling powder, umm... Flour and flowers. I think you earn yourself bonus brownie points if you make friends with Stu (he likes typical kid stuff, chocolate works a treat, though there are probably cheaper alternatives). You need to take her a ball of yarn (doesn't matter what size), which you can only get once you have a sheep, shears and a yarn maker. There are also certain time parameters. I think it has to be in the morning, before 11am. From memory (again), the sock takes, like, all day to make, despite Ellen working at "lightning-fast speed".

The other answer is incorrect. Actually, the only way to get a sock is indeed through Ellen, but the method is different.
To get a sock, you must be good friends with Ellen, then give her some wool. Whether she decides to make you a sock or not is up to how good you're friends with her.

Just be friend with Ellen and give her some YARN, then someday
She will give you the sock and Stu will deliver it
