Ellen and the Winter Sock?!

You need to be very good friends with her. If you think you're friends enough, give her a ball of yarn in the winter between 9:00 to 11:00. She'll thank you and knit a sock for you. Then it'll be 6:00 PM already. You won't be able to go anywhere while she's making the sock.

As an add on Ran08 put, to know if you are good enough friends with her, go to her house first thing in the morning and if she lets you in at around 6:30 (or whenever your character gets to her house) then you are indeed good enough friends with her. Proceed to do as the above has instructed. If she doesn't, then you aren't close enough yet and this would be the problem if it doesn't work. Proceed then to become close friends; talk to her everyday and perhaps bring her a flower everyday if you want to really speed up the process.

It's not necessary to give ellen only wool everyday, because it takes a week to get it.
You can give her flowers and fruits and stuff and give her a gift on her birthday, just like the bachelors.You can give her wool weekly to find out whether she will knit the sock for you.
If you hang the sock on new year's night,The next morning you will find a gift in it.

I just giving her Flour everyday, not only Wool.
