Well, this FAQ has been rejected for posting on GameFAQs a couple of times
now, which leads me to think it's near impossible to get an in-depth guide
posted for the older Pokemon games. I was going to leave this to die, but it
should go to some use, so I uploaded it to SuperCheats.

Hello and welcome to my Game Corner guide for Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
While I was playing through Silver again the other day, I thought that I
might actually play in the Game Corner, instead of ignoring it like I usually
do. It was going okay, but I wasn't winning very fast. It was gonna take me
all day to afford anything! So I had the idea to look at an FAQ to help me
along a bit. Shock horror! There isn't one. To try and fill this void, I've
found out everything that I can about the Game Corners and made this short
guide for those who want help.

I'm not overly impressed that GameFAQs won't host this, as I'm not used to
getting the knock back for any of my guides. However, it shouldn't really go
to waste, so it can now be found on Neoseeker and SuperCheats. For the
record, vinheim and Mighty Oracle have used the information within this FAQ
for their Crystal guide. They alone have my permission to do what they hell
they like with it.

If you want to see any more of my work follow this link:

That's it, I hope you find the FAQ useful!

There are two Game Corners to be found in G/S/C. The first is in Goldenrod
City, just to the north of the PokeCentre. The second is found in Celadon
City south-west of the PokeCentre.

The Game Corner is like a Pokemon casino! Here, you can exchange your $ for
Game Corner coins then play games to win prizes. Often the Game Corner is the
only place to get a certain TM or Pokemon, so better get playing!

Before you can play the games in the Game Corner, there are two things that
you need: coins and a Coin Case.

The Coin Case can be found in the Underground Tunnel. To get there, stand
outside the Game Corner and head to the left. Just to the south you will find
the entrance to the Underground Tunnel. The Coin Case can be found about
halfway along, lying on the ground. You need this in your pack to be able to
play the games.

To get coins, go inside the Game Corner and speak with the guy at the back on
the left. You can buy coins from him.

50 Coins : $1000
500 Coins : $10000

Expensive huh? Even more so if you have to buy 5500 coins to afford one of
the shiny new TMs. Hopefully, winning on the slots or roulette will help to
reduce that cost. Anyway, once you have the Coin Case and the coins, you're
set.

On the left hand side of Goldenrod and the right hand side of Celadon Game
Corner, you can play the slots. The slots will give you the best chance of
earning some serious cash. The concept is one I'm sure you are familiar with.

There are 3 spinning reels with pictures on. You must stop each reel by
pressing A. You need to line up 3 of the same pictures to win. To give you a
bit more of a chance, you can line up the pictures either horizontally like
this-

 ,---. ,---. ,---.
 | * | | % | | ? |
 | 7 | | 7 | | 7 |
 | % | | * | | ^ |
 '---' '---' '---'

Or diagonally like this-

 ,---. ,---. ,---.
 | 7 | | % | | ? |
 | ^ | | 7 | | % |
 | % | | * | | 7 |
 '---' '---' '---'

Or this-

 ,---. ,---. ,---.
 | ? | | % | | 7 |
 | ^ | | 7 | | % |
 | 7 | | * | | ? |
 '---' '---' '---'

Depending on how much you bet and which pictures you line up, you will win a
different amount of coins. When you first sit down at a machine, you will be
asked how many coins you would like to bet. Always bet 3, as the payouts are
a lot higher. There is really no point in betting with 1 or 2. It doesn't
matter which machine you sit at, you have an equal chance of a payout at any
machine. Well actually, there's a guy at Celadon who says they all have a
different chance, but as far as I can see that's a load of crap.

Here are the payouts for lining up 3 pictures if you bet 3 coins.

3 Cherries - 6 Coins
3 Pikachus - 8 Coins
3 Squirtles - 10 Coins
3 Staryus - 15 Coins
3 Poke Balls - 50 Coins
3 7s - 300 Coins

Whilst playing the slots, you need to aim for the 7s constantly. On all
machines, the first reel will have two 7s on it. The best place to land the
first 7 is right here-

 ,---. ,---. ,---.
 | 7 | | | | |
 | | | | | |
 | | | | | |
 '---' '---' '---'

Hitting it at the top of the first reel will mean you can land the second one
either on the top or in the middle of the second. You may think you will have
the same effect if you land it at the bottom of the first reel, but you would
be wrong. If you do it this way, you need to land the final 7 at the top of
the third reel. This can be a real challenge, as you can't even see the 7
coming. At least if you have to land it at the bottom of the third reel, it
will have been in your sight for a nano-second.

So, yeah that's where you want to land the first one, but to be honest,
anywhere on the first reel gives you a chance. I find the best way to get the
7 in the right place is to wait for it to appear then keep rhythm as to when
it reappears. Like if it takes say 1 second to appear again, I keep count in
my head, then once I have the rhythm right, I hit the A button when I think
the 7 will appear. Hopefully, this is something you will master too.

Moving onto the second reel, do the same as before, get a rhythm going and try
and land the 7 in the right spot. Occasionally, even if you don't line up the
7, the reel will automatically re-adjust and put the 7 in the correct place.
Don't rely on this happening though, it doesn't occur all that often.

If you miss the 7 on this reel, it may be that you still have the chance to
win some coins. If there are two other symbols lined up, then go for the
consolation prize!

Should you have been lucky enough to line the first two 7s up, move onto the
third reel. Hitting the 7 here seems to be a lot harder and it makes me
wonder if the game somehow makes the last 7 harder to land. Anyway, keep doing
the rhythm thing here and stop the 7 once you think you have it right. If you
are extremely accurate/lucky you will line all 3 7s up right away. If this is
you then congrats. However, if you miss the 7, there are still 3 other ways to
win.

1) A number of Golems will drop and each time one does, the reel will move
round one picture. The number of Golems seems to be random and there is no
way to stop the reel, so often they will take you right past the 7. Anyway,
if they stop and the 7 lines up, you will win.

2) The reel will automatically move around again. It will move the reel around
one full turn and then an extra space. So if you landed the 7 one space too
early you will win. However, if you press A, you can stop the reel early.
This can be risky too as it won't stop immediately, it will take a couple of
   seconds.

3) The third way to win hardly ever happens. After you miss the 7, a Chansey
will appear and spin the reel to a 7. Instant win!

Hopefully this will help you win some coinage on the slots. Remember to keep
that rhythm going!

The card roulette game is very different. There is a board on the right with
24 spaces on it. There are 6 Pikachu, 6 Jigglypuff, 6 Poliwag and 6 Oddish
spaces. These spaces are numbered 1-6. There are 24 cards in a deck, one for
each of the spaces on the board. You need to make a bet as to what card will
be drawn. You then need to draw a card. There are two cards to choose from.
Press A and one of the cards will be drawn. If you chose that card/space you
will win. If not you will lose.

If you want my opinion, the slots are a better option than this. You will
earn coins much faster and with less effort, however if game is more fun to
play (at least I think so).

You can bet on different areas of the board with different odds depending on
how many spaces you bet on at once. You need to bet 3 coins each time you
play.

Single Space : 24-1
Single Row : 6-1
Single Column : 4-1
Twin Row : 3-1
Twin Column : 2-1

Each time a card is drawn, it is removed from the deck, so in fact these odds
are constantly subject to change. In fact 12 cards will be drawn from the
deck in total. Depending on which cards are drawn, the board will have a
different look.

To bet on a single space, just leave your cursor over the space. To select
a single row, go to the row you want and press left at the end. The cursor
will now select the entire row. Press left again and you will select a double
row. Double rows are 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6. To select a single column,
got to the top of that column and press up. Press up again to select a double
column. Double columns are Pikachu and Jigglypuff, Poliwag and Oddish.

The aim of this game is to try and win on every single turn, no matter what
the odds are. You just need to know when you will have the best chance to
win. This means not picking single spaces at a 24-1 chance of winning. Below
I will list the best moves to make from the first to the last. I can't
promise 100% that you will win with these moves, but they should give you the
best chance.

Move 1 : You have a 50-50 chance of winning here if you select a double
column. Choose which ever one takes your fancy.

Move 2 : Since one card will have already have been taken, select the
double column that hasn't been touched yet. This gives you a better
            than 50-50 chance to win.

Move 3&4 : Since the board is still relatively untouched, keep on with the
double columns, picking the side with the most cards left (or if
both are the same then choose what ever).

Move 5&6 : It's possible that the board has begun to take a little shape
already. If you can see a double row that has remained untouched
so far, then it is worth taking a risk on that one. If all the
double rows have had at least one card taken from them, then stick
with the double columns for a couple more turns.

Move 7&8 : If you can see that one of the double rows has a few more cards
left than the other two, then I would take a shot at them for a
couple of turns. If it all looks pretty even then look at the
single columns. If there is a single column that hasn't been hit
yet then go for that one. If neither of these things look
familiar, go with a double column.

Move 9&10 : Look out for a double row again. Probably one will have more
cards than the others by now. Alternatively, look for a single
column with more cards than the others.

Move 11&12: Either a single column or a double row here. However, if you want
to chance your luck here, you can pick a couple of single spaces,
who knows maybe you'll earn a cool 72 coins.

In Crystal, after you have defeated Red, the Move Tutor will appear outside
Goldenrod Game Corner on Wednesdays and Sundays. He will teach Flamethrower,
Ice Beam and Thunderbolt to your Pokemon for 4000 coins (that's Game Coins
  not $).

Walking around the Game Corners pressing A will not help you find any coins.
This worked on R/B/Y but not on G/S/C. Also, speaking to people inside the
Game Corners won't work either. Well, there's a guy at Celadon who will give
you a single coin if that's gonna help.

There is tell that if you have a high level Chansey in your party, then you
will have a much better chance of winning in the Game Corner. As yet I
can't confirm or disprove this, but I'm working on it. If you have a
definite answer to this then drop me an e-mail. Chanseys can be found on
Routes 12, 13 and 14. Try in the grass where the girl wants to trade you
  an Aerodactyl.

Want all the prizes you can carry for free? Well at least nearly free.
First of all, you need to get enough coins to cover the cost of what ever
you are buying. If you want a Pokemon, make sure you have space in your
party, if you want a TM make sure you have a Pokemon you don't mind cloning.

Now, go to the PokeCentre and open an empty box. This should save your game.
Go to the Game Corner and collect your prize. Now, if you are getting a TM,
give it to a Pokemon to hold. If you are just getting a Pokemon you can
ignore that step. DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME AT THIS POINT.

Next, head to the PokeCentre and deposit the Pokemon (the one you won or
the one with the TM) in the empty box you opened before. Now, open up
another new box. When the SAVING DON'T TURN OF THE POWER message comes up,
turn off the power on the GameBoy. I like to turn off on THE. Anyway, turn
the power back on. In the box you will find the Pokemon that you deposited,
complete with the TM (if it had one). Now go to the Game Corner and check
