How do you get stronger so you can lift those rocks in the very beginning of the game? I need to get to the swamp place but I can't lift the rocks! Please help!

To get in the swamp you need to find the giant balldog monster (as seen in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario DS) and walk to the south enterence on the swamp. The balldog thing will eat all the plants so you can make it through.

Yeah, just like phyro989 says you need the CHAIN CHOMP also known as Bowvow in the game. After completing the first dungeon, Bowvow will be dognapped by moblins. Find the Moblin cave near the swamp and rescue the dog.
Then use him to get into the BOTTLE GROTTO in the swamp (he can eat those annoying plants in front of the entreance).

You will get the POWER BRACELET in there which will allow you to lift rocks
