My game keeps on restarting after I shut it off. I don't know if I did something wrong because I don't use gamesharks or anything

Maybe the game instead is busted, or you just don't save it before you turn it off.
That happened to my Pokemon yellow and I couldn't fix it and the only time it ever saves is in Pallet Town but in Pokemon gold it would just be the first town
Most probaly you have a cartridge full of glitchs or it's completely spoilt.
Your game file has become corrupt, you can not save on it anymore.
That happened to me on my silver...............i think it's because water got into the game so if your gold has been nere water then thats probaly whats wrong with it.
Omg thats what happened with my Pokemon ruby GBA game it would save but if I didnt play it 4 a while or I jiggled the cartridge by accident it would COMPLETELY reset...... I don't use cheats period and it was brand new when it started to reset! WTF?????
That has happened to me with me with my gold game. I thought the game was busted so I got a brand new one (not used) on amazon. It happened again.
It is the save barrery in the game. The game uses a battery to keep your gae saved, google how to fix it I knowbfrom a first.hand experience
