Bully, the game that has angered lawyers and parents alike. In this game you play as a 15 year old teenage boy called Jimmy Hopkins who is sent to one of the worst, if not THE worst boarding school in the state.... Bullworth Academy. Jimmy is sent there while his mother goes on her 5th honeymoon with her 5th husband for a whole year. Then as Jimmy you must fight and rise above the 4 factions of the school. Greasers, Preppies, Nerds and Jocks. Jimmy must then defeat all of the 4 factions to be "king of the school" and stop all the bad things that are happening at Bullworth Academy.
The graphics are ok but could be better. The game is for PS2 although which is understandable in why the graphics aren't as good as they could of been. Overall the graphics can be a little clunky and shady at times but that won't bother you because there are tons of things to be done on the whole game. The facial expressions of your fellow students, adults, police officers, teachers and basically everyone looks are amazing. If you upset someone, you will know about it. And thats not just because they'll be running after you. If you make someone happy on the game their face will drematically change from a casual look to a great big grin, and the same goes for making someone angry or scared. Their faces will react to the feeling you are making them feel. Which is very advanced for the PS2. We all know of Rockstar's other famous title... "GTA San Andreas" and san Andreas was a world full of mindless people. Bully is a diffrent story, no two people are the same. There are never two of the same people on the game and every person has a diffrent personallity and is in a diffrent faction.
The sound in Bully is great. It relly does feel like you are in a school. Even in the hallways you will hear teachers shouting at pupils, preppies gossiping and the footsteps of people running to class. But even outside the school sound is great. You will hear birds singing in the trees and people talking in the streets and making it sound like real conversations unlike San Andreas were it was just mindless speech. Also even walking, running, sprinting, crawling, ducking and mostly everything you do on the game will make a realistic sound.
Gameplay is great and even though your only 15 it doesn't take away from that GTA feel. You still have to unlock parts other parts of the town by doing missions and doing mini-games. The town of Bullworth isn't even as big as one of the cities in San Andreas but the need for exploration seems to be greater in Bully. There are so many things to unlock, find and do in Bullworth. The missions are great and feel like GTA because of teir wacky dialogue and mission storyline, To get through the game you have to go through diffrent chapters, there are 6 chapters in total which are unique because as the year progresses the seasons change. Liek at winter snow will fall then melt away and Christmas day will pass, and also in autumn, leaves will fall of trees and Halloween will pass. The school body will change their clothes and decorations will be displayed during the holidays. This makes the gameplay feel even more real and adds to the experience. Anyone who has played Bullies brother "the Warriors" will feel right at home with the combat controls. And the driving controls are fairly the same as GTA. On Bully you can't drive cars which is understandable considering the main character is only 15. Only bikes, go-karts, mopeds and a skateboaurd are the things Jimmy are aloud to operate. But this is good also because it gives the game an american old-school feel.
Well like I said, the game is in chapters and each chapter would take you about 90 minuets to complete if you played one mission after another. This can make the game feel unpolished near the end and make you feel like they could of done more. But there are over 300 things to collect on the game.... Litrally. It is extremely hard to complete the game at 100%. Just doing the whole of the story is 65%.
This is an amazing game and Rockstar have delivered a classic as we all knew they would. This game will never get old even when it's been spinning in your PS2 for about 3 months. There is so much to do and so much to see on this game it is un-discribable to say how much stuff is in this game. So this is one game worth paying your good earned cash for and this will beone school year you wish didn't end so quickly.
