How to Open the Gilded Chest of Selûne in Baldur's Gate 3

The Owlbear Cave
Near the bridge outside Emerald Grove, you will encounter three cultist siblings who tell you of a deadly owlbear and a treasure in the cave that it's guarding. Unfortunately, they don't tell you where to find it.
- Where to Find the Owlbear Cave
The owlbear nest is found inside a cave which can be located to the northeast of the Blighted Village. You will need to look for the small stream to find the entrance. Once you cross the bridge and can see the entrance to the village, turn north into the forest and head down a dirt trail that leads down to the riverbank. The opening to the Owlbear Cave is at coordinates X:85, Y:444.
- How to Get the Owlbear Cub
The cave which is referred to as the Owlbear Nest is very small. Inside is the Gilded Chest of Selûne and a full-grown owlbear that is angry that you have entered its home. You can deal with the owlbear in one of two ways. Providing you pass an Animal Handling Check you can calm the owlbear down and it will leave you alone while you move around the cave as long as you don't interact with it again.
Alternately, you can defeat the owlbear which won't actually die but remains unconscious with 1 HP. Don't kill the owlbear cub if you want it to join your party later in the game.
Later in Baldur's Gate 3, you will come across the owlbear cub again at the Goblin Camp west of the Blighted Village. If you kill all the Goblins and their allies in the outside section of the Goblin Camp it will help the owlbear cub to escape and after doing so will join your party.
How to Open the Gilded Chest of Selûne
Once you have dealt with the owlbear you will be free to solve the puzzle of the Gilded Chest of Selûne. To do so you will need the Selunite Prayer Sheet. You can easily find this item by using the jump command to leap across to the statue of Selune just to the South. The Selûnite Prayer Sheet is revealed by a successful passive perception to be in the chest in the dirt behind the statue.
Once you have possession of the Selûnite Prayer Sheet you need to jump back across the gap to the Gilded Chest of Selûne. Stand next to the Gilded Chest of Selûne and open your inventory. Now right-click on the Selûnite Prayer Sheet, and select 'Read'.
When your party member reads the prayer it will remove the seal on the chest and you will be able to loot its contents. Keep in mind that Shadowheart is a devoted follower of Shar so the Selûnite Prayer will not work if he reads it.
Loot inside the Gilded Chest of Selûne
The contents of the Chest of Selûne are:
- Selûnite Rite (worth 15 gold)
- Silver Necklace (worth 25 gold)
- Bloodstone (worth 40 gold)
- Idol of Selûne (worth 60 gold)
- Moondrop Pendant (Uncommon magic item that stops the wearer from provoking opportunity attacks when they are at 50% hit points or less, worth 65 gold)
