How to Get an Ikran in Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora
The Ikran are the flying mounts of the Na'vi and you should acquire one as soon as possible to make traveling through the world easier and have help during fights. - Where to Find Ikran
Having an Ikran as a mount in Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora is essential for exploring the world from the air. You will be able to find an Ikran early in the game by following the story missions normally until you unlock the mission 'Take Flight'. This is the 11th main story mission and in it, you will meet Nefika at the entrance to the Ikran Rookery where you will be tasked with climbing a high mountain, the path is not difficult to follow.
The only problem you may encounter is a plant known as Gateway Lilies blocking your way but it can be easily dealt with by touching or shooting the two smaller leaves on each side of the big Gateway Lily. You can use your Na'vi Senses to figure out which smaller Lily you need to interact with. As you make your way to the top of the mountain make sure you keep an eye out for plants and materials that you can gather for upgrades.
- How to Tame an Ikran
Keep following the path, you will encounter an Ikran several times before you finally manage to subdue one. To tame an Ikran you must approach it slowly, pushing the button prompt to soothe the creature. Eventually, it will bond with you.
You can customize your Ikran by picking a name from a preselected list and also pick what pattern and skin color the Ikran wears throughout your journey. The latter of which is changeable at times.
- How to Upgrade an Ikran
Once you have claimed an Ikran you will want to enhance its abilities to make it more effective when free-roaming or swooping into battle. Upgrades are not applied to the Ikran directly, you need to pump skill points into the Rider skill branch within your skills tree.
Uprades from the Ancestral skill Wing include Gust which teaches your Ikran to damage and disorient enemies with their wings when landing and Screech which sees the Ikran screaming to attack enemies. Aside from the Ancestral tree, you can unlock a flying takedown move from the Rider path with three skill points.
You must care for your Ikran by feeding it different foods to replenish its energy which then allows you to use the skills acquired through the Rider skill branch more frequently. Although you can customize the different colors and gear you give your Ikran they will have no direct effect on the abilities of your mount.
